Big quality, small price, excellent service

It's always your rear wheel that goes first, consequently I've got a good few front wheels in my loft, instead of buying another expensive wheelset I decided to look for a good quality rear wheel, madspeed7 sell on eBay, and their products are cheap, so cheap that I was a bit sceptical of the quality... Which was totally unfounded, my whole experience with my purchase has been first class, the questions I asked were answered almost instantly, the wheel I purchased was delivered free on a 24 hour courier, the claimed weight of 1015g was spot on....I'ts currently 400miles in on a very decent ultegra equipped road bike, it's true, it's smooth, and if there are any differences between it and the £200 wheel it replaced, I certainly can't detect any, I bought this as a winter wheel, but I'm considering buying another set for summer I'm that impressed. Only little niggle, the supplied rim tape wasn't the best and was a few mm too narrow for the 16mm internal rim.. If your a brand snob you can always de-sticker the wheels or buy them from Wheelhut which is the same shop, different name, same prices, and the wheels have no decals. Buy with confidence, I will certainly be returning as a customer

Surprised

Caveat - I haven’t used the bike on our potholed roads yet! My old Giant has probably done over 10k miles and the original wheels and hubs were beyond saving. It’s now my training bike and so an ‘economy’ set of wheels made sense. Was extremely surprised how excellent these wheels appear to be. Since buying just the rear I’ve now bought the matching front and they are both superb. The bearings are very smooth and the wheels are as true and round as could be. I’ve also saved 300g over the original set. Fitting was very simple and they look great.
In an unscientific push test the old front wheel spun for just under a minute before stopping. The Madspeed 7 wheel spun for over 8 minutes. That was the biggest surprise!! Will they last though on our potholed roads? I’m looking forward to finding out…
