This was my second purchase from Madspeed7.
Their service was excellent, responding to a query I had, prior to purchase, very quickly.
Placed my order and it was despatched and delivered very quickly.
The wheels I ordered were exactly what I needed and seem to be very high quality
So, I needed new wheels and unfortunately didn’t have a massive budget. Amazed to find these wheels online, however remained slightly sceptical until they arrived and were spinning on the bike.
I have to say, I’m impressed with the value for money side of things, however I found that the front wheel required some adjustment and tightening around the cones. Easily done and might be bedding in issues as I have done over 1000k on them since arriving.

These were bought (July 2024) to refurbish a 2017 Cannondale 27.5” mountain bike (quick release, non-boost, 135mm O.L.D (rear), 146mm axle (rear), 8 speed, HG cassette, previous wheels- Etrto: 584x17).
The quality of the new wheels are excellent - strong, balanced, and roll forever once secured in the bikes’s dropouts. Cornering is much improved with the wider rims (25 upgraded from 17). The freehub sounds very healthy, although the part number is not clear beyond the Koozer Xm490 hub shell reference, or is the appropriate method for extracting the freehub - should a replacement be necessary
There was an initial compatibility issue at the installation because it appeared the rear wheels’ axle was only equal to the O.L.D. of the bike’s frame, but this was because I had not realised the necessary extension attachments were still connected to the protective transportation axle covers.
Seating my tires (2.3” and 2.25”) was a nightmare, but this was an issue with my technique.
Apart from minor setup complications (relating to my knowledge) I am very satisfied with the purchase, and build quality, and appreciate Madspeed’s detailed information on the website, and - more importantly- their provision of an option to upgrade an older bike.
I actually bought these wheels back in 2021, but never got around to actually converting my bike.
I've recently moved home and have now finally set it up due to commuting needs. The wheels are excellent. I commute in Glasgow where there are some pretty nasty climbs, and the bike flies up.
Looking to convert more bikes into fixies/single speeds in the future. I'll always be using these wheels.

Worked out cheaper to buy a new wheel with the freewheel and cassette than to repair the original.
Great value.
Several rides, holding up well.. Although 2 less spokes than the original wheel, it looks well made and strong. Decent QR.
Good customer service, they emailed me to double check the spec I ordered was correct, as not a regular/common hub I guess.
And being rim brake, easy to get the inner tube and tyre on.
Having never bought a new wheel and cassette before I was apprehensive about choosing the right thing. I messaged madspeed7 quite late at night for advice. I got an immediate reply asking for a couple more details which I provided. I then asked for help on choosing a new chain, and again the response was immediate. I placed my order and everything arrived very quickly. I've just got around to fitting the wheel and chain. What a difference! I don't ever remember my bike being this good, even when it was new back in 2012. And it looks so smart too! Thank you madspeed7.
Second set I have bought from Madspeed. Excellent value for money set of wheels. Roll well and look smart. Very easy to order and delivery was very quick.
Before I even got the wheel the staff contacted me to verify my bike specs and ensure they best met what I was looking for. On top of that they are courteous, responsive and efficient. That side the wheel is great too - it's straight, balanced and has low rolling resistance.

Very happy with wheel , I've Already been on a few off-road adventures and wheel has been great , would like to know for future though how to remove freehub body for servicing and replacing bearings in future , is there a special tool for this ?
After 3 weeks cycling with a rear madspeed wheel (29x 31) on my e-MTB (Trek Rail 5), I am very pleased. Very low friction and no need to adjust the bearings.
Last year I put a rear Madspeed on my mechanical MTB, 26" , and that convinced me to use them again. Madspeed were very helpful when I had a query when installing it too.
So definitely recommended. Particularly good value too.
Any downsides? Well I was expecting an inner tape on the wheel. I would have happily paid extra for that. But I used the tape from my old wheel so not a problem.
I already have a set I've been using for four years so when swapping from freewheel to cassette it was a no brainer to go for the same wheel in a free hub. Excellent wheels.
